The publishing arm of the project, Heathwood Press, is the primary outlet for the writings of the Institute and its authors and contributors. Majority of Heathwood’s publications are available online and for free; however, we also publish books and a print journal. You can read more about Heathwood’s publications here. For submission information, see below:

Online Publication

We are actively accepting submissions for any one of our Key Series & Themes. We also accept general submissions, which may not fit with any of our ongoing series.

From time to time, we also release subject-specific Call for Papers as well as CFPs for special projects. Latest CFPs can be found in the news section of this site. Ongoing special projects can be found here.

If you would like to submit something for publication on the Heathwood website, please feel free to contact us at submissions[at]heathwoodpress[dot]com. Please specify in the email whether you are submitting an article for a particular series, or if you are making a general submission. One of our editors will be in touch as soon as possible. (Please note all articles for online publication go through a process of review).

Before making a submission, please review our reference guide and ensure your article meets its standards.

Lastly, we’re always looking for regular contributors (‘fellows’) and editors to join our project. If this is something that interests you, contact us at the above address and we can discuss.

Print Journal

The Heathwood Journal of Critical Theory was founded in 2014, with its first issue published in print in September 2015. The Journal is reviewed. All articles go through a process of intense review and scrutiny, which includes peer review when the editor or editors see fit. That said, the Journal is open to submissions from anyone. A selection of articles published in each issue of the journal will also appear on the website, after a short time delay.

We take seriously the need to move ideas forward. Each issue is organized around a general theme will this need in mind. Our ambition is to publish the Journal regularly, so please keep an eye out for frequent Calls for Papers both in the news section and on social media ( & ).

Before making a submission to our Journal, please familiarize yourself with our project and review our reference guide.

Book Submissions

Heathwood doesn’t operate as a traditional book publisher. Majority of our book publications are authored by those who have a direct affiliation with our project. For these reasons we are presently not accepting unsolicited manuscripts. However, if you have an idea that you think fits particularly well with our project, we’re always open to discussing it. You can contact us here: submissions[at]heathwoodpress[dot]com
